Nicotinell Gum has proven a popular and effective way to help kick the smoking habit once and for all. Nicotinell gum works by releasing nicotine, which is absorbed into the lining of the mouth. This helps to alleviate any withdrawal symptoms while gradually reducing the overall dose of nicotine. The nicotine replacement provided by Nicotinell gum helps to alleviate some of the unpleasant withdrawal effects that frequently occur when giving up smoking. Using Nicotinell gum is safer than smoking because it does not contain other dangerous substances such as tar, which causes cancer and is present in tobacco smoke.
Nicotinell gum is available in two strengths, 2mg and 4mg, and two great flavours, either mint or fruit. Each box of Nicotinell gum contains 96 pieces. Nicotinell gum 2mg is recommended for those who smoke less than 20 cigarettes a day. The 4mg gum is recommended for those who smoke more that 20 cigarettes a day.
Nicotinell gum should be used for around 6 months although the actual time needed to completely quit differs from person to person. When you first start to quit is the time you will need the most support so during the first 4 – 6 weeks try using one piece of Nicotinell gum per hour, however if your cigarette craving is still strong you may use up to a maximum dose of 25 pieces of the 2mg or 15 pieces of the 4mg per day. After the first 4 – 6 weeks the dosage should be reduced to one piece every other hour and gradually reduce the amount used until you only use 1 – 2 pieces of Nicotinell gum per day. At this point stop using Nicotinell gum completely. |
