LAMISIL cream is used to treat fungal infections of the skin caused by fungus (dermatophytes or tinea), commonly known as “ringworm”. Tinea of the feet is commonly known as “athlete’s foot”. LAMISIL cream is also used to treat yeast infections of the skin. Yeasts are another type of fungus, a common example being Candida albicans. LAMISIL cream is also useful in treating Pityriasis versicolor, a superficial fungus infection of the skin. Each gram of LAMISIL Cream contains 10mg of the active ingredient terbinafine hydrochloride. Terbinafine works by killing dermatophytes and killing or stopping the growth of yeasts.
HOW TO USE LAMISIL CREAM PROPERLY
Lamisil Cream is usually applied once or twice daily. It is important to clean and thoroughly dry the affected areas before applying Lamisil Cream. Apply the cream to the affected skin and surrounding area in a thin layer and rub it in lightly. If you need to apply the cream between your toes, fingers or buttocks, under a breast or armpit, or in the groin region, the area may be covered with gauze after applying the cream. This is particularly useful at bedtime. Lamisil Cream is for external use only. Wash your hands after using the cream. Avoid applying the cream near your eyes, or touching your eyes while you still have the cream on your hands.
Even though the signs of infection may disappear after using the cream for only a few days, it is important to continue using it, as directed, for the recommended period, as if Lamisil Cream is used for only a few days , there may possibly still be some fungus that has not been killed off by the cream and as a result the infection may soon return. See your doctor or pharmacist if symptoms persist. |
